Meet Our Instructors
Kris Hallberg received her 200-hour and 500-hour yoga teaching certificates from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the largest yoga and holistic health center in North America www.kripalu.org. Among her teachers were Sudha Carolyn Lundeen, Devarshi Steven Hartman, Sudhir Jonathan Foust, and Yoganand Michael Carroll.
Kripalu, which means “being compassionate” in Sanskrit, is a form of yoga that emphasizes following the flow of prana (life-force energy), compassionate self-acceptance, observing the activity of the mind without judgment, and taking what is learned into daily life.
Since 2011, Kris has taught moderate and gentle yoga classes in the Nett Lake and Vermilion communities of the Bois Forte Reservation, in addition to occasional classes in Tower and at Tofte Lake Center. Kris is shown here with her steadfast companion, Cooper.
Sarah Hansen, is a Registered Yoga Therapist with 1000 hours of training and a Somatic Educator. Sarah’s background as a wilderness educator grounds her interest in guiding individual discoveries of body, mind and spirit. As a SomaYoga practitioner, she blends yoga philosophy, asana and therapeutic yoga with the neuromuscular re-education of somatics. Together these gentle compassionate practices build awareness, center the mind, open the body, and deepen the inner connection of presence and possibility. In addition, Sarah loves the daily adventures of parenting teens in Ely.
